Kid Cudi: Adult-sized Quality

Peer along the multicolored back cover of Kanye's emotionally candid offering 808s and Heartbreak and the first thing you will say is, "How can they expect people to read this tiny font?" Frankly, I don't have an answer to that one. Then, you will notice that only four artists are featured on the entire album: Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, and Mr. Hudson. You will say that's sweet that Kanye teamed up with two superstars like Jeezy and Wayne, but who in the name of Dwele (featured on Graduation's "Flashing Lights") are Kid Cudi and Mr. Hudson???

Kid Cudi is an up-and-coming rapper from Cleveland who is featured on the second song of 808s and Heartbreak, "Welcome to Heartbreak," but -as Billy Mays puts it- there's more! He is also a purveyor of a freshness in rap that is overdue. With Kanye on indefinite leave from rap while on his sing-songy grind, we need someone else to fill his spot on the team of rappers that are a departure from stale, uncreative, one-dimensional rap on "monkey in a toolbox beats." Kid Cudi might be the one to fill the spot, I'm not sure yet, but maybe. He is certainly worth a listen. Go to his website www.kidcudi.com to download his 17 song mixtape. "Day N Nite" is currently my fav.

As for Mr. Hudson, I really don't know... Is he that guy on "Paranoid?" Did they name a river in New York after him? Did he do the voice of Skye on the old TV show "The Puzzle Place?" Your guess is as good as mine, this post was about Kid Cudi.
